Dans Mon Brun

Dans Mon Brun (2009)

As a young artist who was born in Africa, but lived on different continents, I find myself reflecting, who and what do I represent in this brown body that walks the earth? Am I an artist first…or am I an African? Or really, does it matter? As a mere human being, what force is used to communicate that is non-verbal? This performance continues to explore the continuity of time that I find so fascinating, as well, in combination with the installation; it discusses the previous, present and future relationships of the western world and Africa. This piece was exhibited on the western coast of Africa, in Cameroon, where I found similar identity questions in existence.
